The Scarlet Letter! At some time or another, life will take us to the precipice of the abyss to challenge our soul's mettle. Pesently, many are finding themselves being taken to task as a result of the financial upheaval. However, if they keep their wits and refuse to panic, they will soon find a way to surmount all of their trials. In this edition of our newsletter, we are supplying you with something which we hope you will never have need of. However, if you find yourself in financial dire straits, please continue reading and perhaps the solution you have been long waiting for might just be here. THE LETTER ! Dear Mr. "Banker", We are writing to appraise you of our current circumstances as they affect our mortgage loan with your bank. However, please allow us to preface our comments by first saying that we have been employed with ACME Widget Company and Bohn Jull Ltd. for nine and ten years respectively. During the entire period of having a mortgage with ABC Bank (7 years) we have paid on time every month. Our obligation to your bank has always been a priority for us, and despite (the larger income earner) having lost my job, our commitment remains firm. With that said, my wife and I, like many other families in the Bahamas have seen our lives negatively impacted by the current global economic downturn. As mentioned above, our household income has been reduced by more than seventy percent, from $6,500.00 per month to $1,755.00 as a result of the loss of my job. My resume has been sent to numerous companies in an effort to find employment, however many employers are reluctant to hire due to their eroded customer base and decline in revenues. Incidentally, we have not limited my job options only to those in my profession (engineer), as I am prepared to do whatever is available to support my family. In view of the state of the economy, we have revised our family's budget to find as much surplus cash as possible. Included in our plan to keep our loans current, are removing our children from private school and cancelling all vacations and other non-essential spending. We therefore request your forbearance as our circumstances have been thrust upon us through no fault of our own. Moreover, we are confident that the current state of affairs will not continue indefinitely, and as soon as it changes our normal repayment pattern will resume. Mr. "Banker", we trust that you will favorably consider our request for an interest only repayment schedule, or some other similar device which will aid us in successfully navigating these challenging economic times. In the meanwhile, should you need to discuss this further please find our contact information below. Otherwise, we look forward to your favorable reply. Sincerely, Mr. & Mrs, "Stressed-out"
